Now one could have thought that the unusually frosty weather of the past weeks had slowed down the progress of the construction work in the center of rossach. But stefan fischer, who is in charge of construction supervision in rossach for the association for rural development, calmly waves off the weather issue and explains: "it was cold, but dry. This has not hindered the work." If they were, it was the classic pitfalls on trench construction sites that put the brakes on: pipes and conduits that no one knew about and that were not even in the plans. But we know that.
The most complicated phase of the construction site has now almost been overcome by the people of rossach and the association for rural development. The reconstruction of the old federal road is almost completed – with not entirely surprising problems. "We have found tarry material in the subsoil", reports uwe vollmuth from the association for rural development (VLE). This had to be removed and disposed of separately – at additional costs of at least 100,000 euros. This kind of special bullshit is not uncommon in civil engineering work. "Especially with trams from the 50s, from the time after that there should not be these problems", vollmuth explains.
For mountains of tarry material, strict criteria applied. The floor was examined and was only allowed to be reinstalled if the load was very low. Uwe vollmuth explains the rules simply: "the condition of the floor must not deteriorate under any circumstances." In the case of rossach, this meant that the coarse part had to be removed and disposed of in a landfill site.
Even if the condition of the construction site, which has been running again for a good 14 days, does not yet indicate the end of the village renewal, the expectations of the people of rossach are high. Gerhard kanzler is one of the representatives of rossach in the community of participants, and he has in particular the "old B 4" in the view: "it was important to us that it was no longer a race track through the town." This was one of the most important requirements for the redesign of the town center. Looking at the plans, mayor udo siegel (CSU) is curious to see how the new/old village center will look once the construction work is complete. The square in front of the already renovated wine press house is being completely redesigned. The old "i-point will disappear, several seating areas and a water surface will be newly added. The mayor laughingly tells about the speeches: "we have said goodbye to the originally planned tuscany flair"." But, as udo siegel is sure, the new meeting place will be a success anyway.
For 1.8 million euros (not including the new village lighting), the old center of rossach is being redesigned as part of the village renewal project: coburger strabe from the fire station to the exit of the village, the area around the church, schustergasse and parts of hirtenberg. The front section of coburger strabe in the direction of grobheirath is no longer part of the village renewal project. "The area of the circle road must not be challenged", explains the mayor, who visibly regrets this regulation a bit.
A little patience is still required from the rossachers. "The whole year", stefan fischer "we’re going to need it yet." Uwe vollmuth is optimistic that the schedule will be met. This is also due to the construction company, emphasizes the expert for planning and development at the VLE. "Good work, good pace", vollmuth attests to the team on the construction site. According to the experts, there will probably also be construction phases in which it could become difficult to reach the village store. But gerhard kanzler is not worried about the long-term construction site and its inconveniences: "we knew that beforehand." And the mayor quickly supplements him: "it was also wanted like that."
